1.2.2 NetVue servers
The NetVue IMS uses a Dell PowerEdge R210 II server. VMware ESXi Hypervisor is pre-installed on the
server. Microsoft Windows™ 2012 Standard Server Virtual Machine (VM) with NetVue software is running
on top of VMware Hypervisor.
Microsoft Windows Updates must be installed on Windows 2012 Server OS periodically as they become
available. The Automatic Updates function in Microsoft Windows is pre-set to download updates
automatically. Updates are not installed automatically to avoid disruption of the NetVue IMS operations.
Customers are encouraged to schedule regular maintenance updates following Microsoft’s “Patch
Tuesdays” to apply Microsoft OS patches, reboot the VM and keep the OS trouble free. It is
recommended to do these updates at least monthly.
CAUTION
NetVue software installation is a closed environment. Installing any additional software including (but
not limited to): firewall, antivirus, troubleshooting or desktop productivity tools will void CEFD warranty.
Deploy any network protection solution as external to the NetVue server. Using NetVue server as pad
for browsing Internet sites should be strongly discouraged.
CAUTION
CEFD uses a TeamViewer host module for remote assistance and for distribution of the NetVue
software updates. Some pre-installed troubleshooting tools (like WireShark, putty, MySQL Workbench
and Agilent IO Library) are specifically intended for CEFD remote troubleshooting. Customers must
not activate these tools unless instructed to do so by CEFD Product Support.
1.2.3 NetVue clients
The NetVue client is a Web application that runs on a standard Internet browser. Comtech recommends
using Microsoft Internet Explorer.
The NetVue client connects to one NetVue Server at a time. Upon login, the NetVue server becomes the
primary NetVue for the client. It is the client’s single point of access to all information in the NetVue IMS
cluster for the duration of the login session.
Figure 1-6 shows the NetVue server log on screen.
