The NetVue server polls the CTOG/CDM-800 continuously for status and configuration changes. NetVue
downloads the primary CTOG/CDM-800 configuration via FTP at ten-minute intervals. You can set the
download interval. This recurring download cycle captures any changes made to the online device.
CTOG/CDM-800 redundancy runs on the primary CTOG/CDM-800. If NetVue detects an error, it copies
the configuration of the primary device to the backup device using FTP. Then, the backup device
becomes the primary device. Additionally, the failed primary powers down.
You must restore the failed primary to return it to online service. To prevent a network interruption or
outage, restore the failed primary during a maintenance window period.

Figure 10-1 shows that a fully redundant CTOG/CDM-800 consists of these devices:
• Primary CTOG and CDM-800 chain
• Backup CTOG and CDM-800 chain
• Server Technology Power Control Module
A power control module controls the power on both the primary and backup chains. A power combiner
combines the IF outputs of the CDM-800 and sends the combined IF to a transmission chain.

The CDD-880 uses either 1:1 or M:N redundancy.
